For five special days, winter in Asakusa will be enveloped in fantastical light. At "ASAKUSA CULTURE & LIGHTS 2025," you can enjoy projection mapping that blends tradition with cutting-edge technology, set against the historic buildings of Senso-ji Temple.
Experience History Through Projection Mapping
The main event is projection mapping set against Senso-ji Temple's Hozomon Gate, Five-Storied Pagoda, and Nitenmon Gate.
A video of approximately 6 minutes will be repeatedly screened, expressing Senso-ji Temple's 1400 years of history and culture through beautiful light. The sight of it while walking along the approach at night is truly fantastical. Admission is free, and no prior application is required.
Screening Hours: December 3rd - 7th, 17:30 - 21:30
Special Viewing for Sights Not Usually Seen
Furthermore, during the event period, Dempo-in Garden and Ema-do Hall will be specially opened to the public. These are usually private areas where you can leisurely enjoy the garden's illumination and the pagoda's projection.
Daytime Special Viewing: 9:00 - 15:00 (approx. 5,000 yen)
Nighttime Special Viewing: 17:00 - 21:00 (approx. 3,000 yen)
Each time slot has a limited capacity and requires reservations. You can tour the garden and Ema-do Hall with an audio guide, but photography inside Ema-do Hall is prohibited.
Viewing Tips
The projection is a loop screening of approximately 6 minutes of video + 3 minutes of break.
If you want to avoid crowds, late evening hours are recommended.
Tripods, selfie sticks, and drones are prohibited.
The event will proceed in light rain, but may be canceled in severe weather.
